Nobody comes to me saying they don't know what they want.
They come knowing exactly what it is. The business idea they haven't launched. The boundary they can't hold with one particular person. The habit that undoes itself every time things get stressful. The relationship pattern that's shown up in three different forms with three different people.
The goal was never the unclear part. One specific thing keeps getting in the way of it, and that's the part worth investigating properly.
Most people I work with are articulate about what they want. They can describe it in detail, sometimes down to how it would feel to finally have it.
What they can't always see is the one block sitting directly in front of it, the specific moment where they stall, retreat, or quietly sabotage the thing they said they wanted.
It looks like getting close to the opportunity and then finding a reason to hesitate. It looks like holding the boundary for two weeks and then dropping it the moment it gets uncomfortable. It looks like knowing precisely what needs to happen next and somehow never being the one who does it.
That's not confusion. That's a block with a belief underneath it.
Here's what twenty years of working with human behaviour has taught me, and what I've lived through myself.
You can be completely clear on the goal and still be run by a belief that was never about the goal at all.
I saw this clearly when I lost seven stone through inner work rather than dieting, and then watched old patterns return the moment I started my own business. The goal hadn't changed. My clarity on wanting to succeed hadn't changed. But a belief formed years earlier, about visibility, about being seen trying, was still running underneath the new goal, wearing a different outfit.
The block wasn't the business. The block was never really about food either. It was the same belief, showing up wherever it found an opening.
That's the pattern worth investigating. Not the goal. The belief underneath the block that keeps meeting it.
You don't need to solve everything you want to change. You need to find the one block that's actually active right now, and get curious about what's underneath it.
Swap "I'm stuck" for something specific. Try finishing this sentence. Every time I get close to ______, I ______ instead.
For example, every time I get close to raising my price, I quietly talk myself out of it before the conversation happens. That's a real block. Vague overwhelm isn't. Precision is what makes it investigable.
Once you've named it, ask a gentler question than "why do I keep doing this." Try, what would have to be true about me, or about the world, for this block to make complete sense?
The answers are often old and specific. Something like, if I'm too visible I'll be criticised, or if I ask for more I'll be seen as too much. You're not fixing this yet. You're just letting the belief show itself.
Once the block has a shape, hold it against a simple question. By the end of the next three months, what do I want to be able to say is true that isn't true right now?
Write one sentence. Not a five year plan, one clear line for the next season. Then check each week, is today's behaviour moving me toward that line, or is the block still winning by default?
Insight about a belief fades fast if it isn't held against something concrete, which is why the north star sentence matters more than it first seems to.
Once a week, reread it. Ask honestly, did the block show up this week, and did I meet it differently or the same way as always?
You're not expecting instant transformation from one journaling exercise. You're building the kind of evidence that eventually makes the belief impossible to keep believing.
If you can now name your block and roughly sense the belief underneath it, you've done real work already. Most people never get this far because they're busy trying to fix the goal instead of investigating what's actually in the way of it.
Getting a belief to properly shift, rather than just naming it, is usually where people want support, and that's exactly what the Summer Reset Pack was built for. It gives you a guided way to get honestly clear on your north star for the next three months, alongside a live Belief Coding session where the one block you've named gets taken all the way to the root.
