Insight is great and a necessary part but knowledge can also keep you stuck.
You've read the books.
You've listened to the podcasts.
You know exactly why you do the things you do.
Yet little is actually changing in your life.
If this sounds familiar, go and grab a cuppa. We need to have a little chat.
It is incredibly frustrating and I mean frustrating with a capital F when you have done the deep work to understand your behaviour, but you still feel like your feet are glued to the floor.
You find yourself wondering why you are still stuck when you are so completely aware of your own rubbish. Going round and round in the same circles.
Here is the things... awareness is brilliant.
It's gold!
In fact, it's the crucial first step in everything I teach and the first step of my super simple but powerful Triple-A-Way™ method.
And sometimes when you see an issue you can't unsee it and change naturally occur. Other times we're not so lucky and things are sticky.
Why?
Because awareness without action is being stuck at first hurdle.
Figuring out your stuff and how you tick is huge. Especially if you've got big plans and dreams.
It's the lightbulb moment where you finally realise why you people-please, why you self-sabotage, or why you hide away when things get tough.
When the pattern makes sense, change finally becomes possible.
It's essential that you take steps to stop fighting yourself. Start investigating the pattern.
But there's a sneaky little trap hiding in this stage.
Your subconscious mind absolutely loves insight mode.
Thinking about change feels incredibly productive.
It feels like you are doing the work but really it's 'busy work' (work that doesn't really need to be done in that moment).
More importantly, it feels safe.
You can sit on the sofa with a notepad, analysing your childhood, and your nervous system stays perfectly calm.
But the moment you try to actually do something different?
That sets off the subconscious alarm bells.
Your brain is wired to keep you safe and familiar.
Even if that familiar place feels a bit rubbish and heavy right now.
To your subconscious, the known misery is always safer than the unknown joy.
So when you try to bridge the gap between knowing what to do and actually doing it, your mind throws up resistance.
It tells you that you need to read one more book.
It convinces you that you are not quite ready yet.
This is where we need to shift the pattern.
Change requires action. It doesn't require more thinking.
You have to step out of that cozy comfort zone.
You might love it, you might hate it, but you will not know until you try.
The good news is you don't need to take a massive, terrifying leap. You only need a micro moment.
It could be sending an email you've been avoiding.
Saying no to that extra project at work.
Taking five minutes to sit and breathe instead of scrolling.
Just do one thing differently today.
This is where the magic truly happens.
You have to prove to your subconscious that the new way of living is safe.
You do this by embedding the change through repetition and accountability.
Every time you take that tiny action, you are rewriting the programme.
You are telling your nervous system that it is okay to move forward.
So, I have a challenge for you today.
Put the self-help book down for just a moment.
Pick one small thing you know you need to do, and go do it.
