What is hidden hunger?

Hidden hunger is the need underneath the eating.

It might be emotional. It might be stress-related. It might be tiredness, pressure, loneliness, avoidance, overwhelm, or something you haven't fully noticed yet.

Most people assume they're eating because they're bored or lacking willpower. But when you pause and ask the right questions, the truth is usually much deeper. And much more compassionate.

  • Tiredness or low energy looking for a quick lift
  • Pressure or stress needing somewhere to go
  • Loneliness or disconnection reaching for comfort
  • Avoidance of something that feels too big to face
  • Habit or a pattern that's been running quietly for years
  • Something you haven't fully seen yet

That's what this challenge is for. Not to fix or restrict. To understand.

This isn't a challenge to stop eating certain foods

It's a challenge to understand what's driving the urge to eat in the first place.

  • No diets
  • No calorie counting
  • No food rules
  • No guilt
  • No shame
  • No restriction

Instead, you'll spend a week observing your patterns, exploring your food noise, and uncovering what may be sitting underneath it. Because when you understand the real reason, everything starts to make more sense.

How the challenge works

Over 7 days you'll become a detective in your own life. No big commitments. Just gentle, consistent attention.

Day 1

Learn the method

Understand how to gently track your eating patterns and use simple body-led awareness tools to check in with yourself before you eat.

Days 2 to 6

Observe without judgement

Keep a simple food noise diary. Notice what's happening when you eat without physical hunger. Start to spot the patterns emerging across your week.

Day 7

Discover your patterns

Reflect on what you've uncovered and identify what may be ready to shift. This is where awareness begins to turn into real understanding.

Meet your guide

Hi, I'm Faye

I'm a Reiki Master, accredited Belief Coding® practitioner, and life coach. My work is about investigating the patterns underneath the behaviour, not managing the behaviour itself.

Recently I started tracking my own food noise and eating patterns. What I discovered surprised me. The reasons I reached for food on work days were completely different from the reasons on days off. It had very little to do with physical hunger.

That's something I see again and again with clients. Not a lack of willpower. A pattern that hasn't been understood yet.

This challenge was built from that work. It's the starting point I wish I'd had. A week of gentle attention, without rules, judgement, or pressure to change anything right away.

Just you and the pattern. Because once you can see it clearly, it starts to shift.

The same person. Different patterns.

Many people notice they eat very differently depending on what's going on around them. And that difference usually has nothing to do with hunger.

  • During the working week versus weekends
  • When they're busy versus when they're relaxed
  • When they're alone versus when they're socialising
  • During stressful periods versus calmer ones

These drivers are subtle. Easy to overlook. Easy to explain away. Until you start paying attention. That's exactly what we'll be doing together.

What you'll explore

You'll learn how to:

  • Identify whether you're physically hungry or something else is happening
  • Track food noise without judgement
  • Use simple body-led awareness tools to explore possible emotions
  • Gently ask "why?" until the real reason starts to emerge
  • Recognise hidden patterns influencing your eating habits
  • Understand the difference between physical hunger and emotional triggers
  • Spot patterns across your week
  • Replace self-judgement with curiosity and awareness

What people have discovered through this work

I don't feel so controlled by food. I don't go searching straight away for food now. I can be calmer around my old food triggers.

N.

My relationship with food has changed. I am not binging and devouring everything perceived as bad foods at the weekend in preparation for starting a new diet on Monday.

K.

I find comfort and relief that isn't just tied to food. The emotional loop of guilt and frustration around eating is finally breaking.

M.

I had less food noise and joined the gym.

S.

I'm no longer stressed about planning every single meal. That constant worry around food preparation has finally eased.

M.

I've been eating more apples and making different food choices.

C.

Understanding patterns behind eating

This isn't about becoming more disciplined

It's about becoming someone who understands themselves. Someone who can look at their behaviour and think: "What is this trying to show me?" instead of "What's wrong with me?"

"When the pattern makes sense, change becomes possible."

Most people spend years trying to change behaviours without understanding what's driving them. This challenge gives you the space to pause, observe, and gather information. Because once you can see the pattern clearly, everything starts to shift differently.

Is this challenge for you?

This may be for you if...

  • You experience food noise
  • You find yourself eating when you're not physically hungry
  • You feel frustrated that willpower alone doesn't seem to work
  • You want to understand your eating habits rather than control them
  • You're curious about the emotional drivers behind eating
  • You're ready to approach food with more awareness and less judgement

This is not...

  • A weight loss challenge
  • A diet plan
  • A calorie counting programme
  • A meal plan
  • A quick fix
  • A substitute for professional medical or mental health support

And if you want to go deeper...

The Hidden Hunger Challenge helps you begin to understand what may be driving your food noise. For some people, awareness alone creates powerful shifts.

For others, the challenge reveals deeper patterns they'd like ongoing support to change. If that's you, the next step is Transform & Rise.
